Hello everyone, English4All students! 👋
Welcome to our Conversation Club this Friday at 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. This is the moment where students from different groups come together to practice English through conversation. Today’s topic is very interesting:
“Good or Bad Luck?”
Let’s understand what it means.
📚 What does “Good or Bad Luck” mean?
The question “Good or Bad Luck?” asks if something that happened to you was fortunate (good luck) or unfortunate (bad luck).
- Good luck means something positive happens by chance.
- Bad luck means something negative happens unexpectedly.
Sometimes the same situation can look like bad luck at first, but later it becomes good luck.
✨ Examples
Example 1
“I missed the bus this morning.” 🚌
At first, that seems like bad luck.
But maybe because you missed the bus, you met a friend or arrived safely.
So later you might say:
“Maybe it was good luck!”
Example 2
“I found $20 on the street.” 💵
That is usually good luck.
But imagine the money belonged to someone who really needed it. Then it may not feel so good.
Example 3
“I didn’t get the job I wanted.” 😕
At first it looks like bad luck, but maybe later you find a better job.
So sometimes we say:
“Everything happens for a reason.”
💬 Useful Expressions
You can use these expressions during the conversation:
- “That was good luck.”
- “That was bad luck.”
- “I was lucky because…”
- “Unfortunately…”
- “Luckily…”
- “At first it seemed like bad luck, but later…”
Example:
“I lost my wallet, but luckily someone returned it.”
❓ Questions you can ask your classmates
Here are some questions you can use in the conversation:
- Do you believe in luck?
- What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
- Have you ever had very bad luck?
- Do you have a lucky object?
- Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
